How we describe takt.

Public transport is there for everyone, yet not every mobility app makes it understandable for everyone. takt adapts to different needs and accompanies people through the whole journey.
During setup, people choose language and view: normal with all the information, or simplified with reduced content. They can voluntarily state what support they need. Light and dark mode, font sizes and more distinguishable colour palettes improve readability.
A working web version uses the connection and departure data of the Verkehrsverbund Oberelbe. Apps for iPhone and Android are planned for early October.
Live departures, multi-leg connections, detection of missed connections, dynamic route changes and six languages are in place. Before you board, a map shows where the vehicle is and helps you judge when to set off.
The simplified view reduces complexity, enlarges controls and highlights the next thing to do. The goal is an app that is as accessible as possible and easy to understand for older people too. That is why we are developing it together with older people, people with visual impairments and passengers new to public transport.
Buying a ticket currently leads into the official VVO/DVB shop. In future, tickets should be selected and paid for digitally inside takt. A friends-and-family mode and an emergency mode for selected contacts and emergency services are planned.
The innovation lies in personalised guidance, real-time data and actively accompanying the journey chain. takt is being built independently of DVB and VVO and is meant to grow as an open community project. It is free, ad-free and requires no account. The VVO area is the first region; the concept can be transferred.
